This website will help you find out and perhaps "live it" yourself.  I am in the process of assembling various alpaca from my pastures for the Mary's Collection Auction.  All the pastures.  The young, the proven, the show string and those simply with potential.  Some are those alpaca that are great for your kids to train and have fun, others may win you Small Breeder of the Year awards (as I have done many times in the past)!  This auction will represent some of the finest studs in this country, and I'm now ready to invite your participation in my intense genetics.  Here is a heads up, a caveat if you will.  In Virginia, my farm tests at 28% protein in the pastures.  That's almost 3x what I'd prefer.  We also feed grain.  As with all things we are evaluating and adjusting our protocols.  The genetics are unaffected.  The environment plays havoc.  Any alpaca will be fairly described, either on this site, Openherd.com or if you call me personally...305-803-1444.  If you buy an animal and are not satisfied you can exchange it for another of equal value or apply the purchase price.  I have been involved in breeding and showing since '94.
